Although his career nearly took a wrong turn with an early stint in banking, Mathieu Diez luckily got back on track and opened a bistro on the Croix-Rousse hill in Lyon. It was at the ‘Café du bout du monde’ that he connected with the comic book community—his childhood passion—with whom he co-founded the Lyon BD Festival. In 2021, he moved to Lebanon with his family to serve as book attaché at the French Embassy. Returning four years later, he recounts this adventure in graphic novel form alongside illustrator Jibé.
