The Fanzeen Jordanian Comic Exhibition 2026 at Bolton Central Library

This free exhibition, running throughout June during library opening hours, is a centerpiece of this year’s Festival of Libraries. The exhibition showcases an anthology of comics created by emerging artists who interviewed disabled individuals to capture their real-life experiences with authenticity and heart. By focusing on themes of disability and neurodiversity, these artists challenge stereotypes and demonstrate how comic art can break down barriers.

"We are thrilled to bring the Fanzeen exhibition to the UK. It continues our work at LICAF in highlighting the diversity of comics globally and our focus on the Middle East, a region which receives less light when it comes to comic art" - Julie Tait, LICAF Founder and Festival Director

Fanzeen is a creative collective originally founded in Amman in 2018 by Mike V. Derderian to support artistic freedom. This specific project was made possible through the dedication of the Bunayat Centre for Special Education and the Jordan Assembly for Art and Disability (JAAD).

Our Founder and Festival Director, Julie Tait, notes that this exhibition continues LICAF's commitment to highlighting the incredible diversity of global comics, particularly from the Middle East. It’s an example of how our year-round programme brings world-class art to local communities, building on our 13 years of experience in connecting artists and fans.

If you're in the North West, don't miss this opportunity to see how comics can reveal contemporary issues with incisive meaning. The exhibition is free to attend all month long.
